Barbara Miller

Barbara A. Miller, the founder and President of Grant Writing Resources, Inc, is a certified grant writer. She began her grant writing career by volunteering to write grants while she served on numerous nonprofit boards. She incorporated her business in May 2005 after researching grant sources and writing grants for more than 15 years.

She received her undergraduate degree in education from Sacred Heart University, her MBA from Rutgers University and her Professional Grant Writer Certification at Simmons College.

Formerly, Miller was the founder and president of the Personnel Dimension, Inc. a California Corporation specializing in human resources support and training.

Prior to incorporating her business, Miller held executive level positions, in both line and staff functions, with Fortune 1000 companies. Most recently, she served as an executive officer and division administrator for the largest bank in the state of Connecticut. She is a guest speaker for civic and professional organizations on various topics related to the business environment as well as on the topic of grant writing. She is a recipient of the prestigious Lamplighter Award for Excellence in Writing from the New England Society for Healthcare Communications and author of A Century of Caring, the Chronicle of Monadnock Community Hospital. Miller is cited in Marquis Publishing's Who's Who in America, the nation's top biographical dictionary.

Miller believes strongly in volunteerism and public service. Miller was:

  • 2019 Greater Peterborough Chamber of Commerce Woman of the Year
  • 2018-2019 Chair of the Peterborough Select Board, completing 12 years as a Selectman, 2 years on the Budget Committee, 2 years on the CIP
  • Member of the Society for Human Resources Management
  • On the Board of Trustees of the Peterborough Players
  • A two-term member of the Town of Peterborough Budget Committee
  • A member of the Town of Peterborough CIP Committee
  • The 2006-2007 Chair of the Board of the Greater Peterborough Chamber of Commerce
  • The 2007-2008 President of the Peterborough Rotary Club: A Paul Harris Fellow
  • A District Chair for the Monadnock United Way
  • President of the Connecticut State Federation of Women's Clubs
  • Board member of the Milford Family and Child Guidance Clinic
  • Board member of the Emergency Medical Services Council
